Beware July 2009
Evil is afoot and its name is July, or more specifically July 8, 2009. I have seen the end of the world as I know it and I feel fine, though I expect that to change. I have pegged the exact time of our doom, down to the second.
This date is my mother-in-law’s birthday, so I already knew it was evil. This is not news to me.

Windows in the Recycle Bin
I had a bit of a heart attack tonight when I went to empty my Recycle Bin and was asked if I wanted to delete ‘WINDOWS’ !
WTF?
After calling 911 and being revived, I searched Google and – to my disbelief – I found out what probably had caused it. This comes from gremlinkurst at Footslog’s Web Boards.
ONE last little tidbit on this: I have discovered how to reproduce this error with 100% success, although I cannot determine whether or not this is the only way that this error can occur. This ‘WINDOWS’ In The Recycle Bin bug is created when one attempts to delete any file that is either legitimately open/in use (i.e., with full knowledge and consent of user) or in use by some other application or process transparent to the user. ALWAYS.
So, not to worry. If this happens to you, it fix itself on a reboot. If you do not wish to reboot; create at text document, send it to the recycle bin, EXPLORE the recycle bin, and delete the text document. You’re recyle bin icon should then return to normal. Worked for me.

Smart Car Crash Video
Tonight my wife and I were walking home from a local pub, and I noticed a Smart Car parked in someone’s driveway. I’ve always been attracted to quirky cars, but the Smart just seemed too small to me to be safe. I mean, how would this tiny thing hold up in a high-speed (say, 70MPH) accident?
Very well, it seems.

Shutter Trailer and Full Movie
Wanna see something scary?
I was surfing my favourite extreme Asian cinema site, and read a review for the Thai horror film Shutter. Although the Snowblood Apple was less than impressed with the film, many people claim that its one of – if not THE – scariest movie(s) they’ve ever watched. I wouldn’t go that far, but its a pretty damned creepy film. What kills it for me is the long dark-haired female ghost that seems to be so typical in Asian horror movies. Still, it has its moments. The performances are good throughout, and the picture quality is excellent.
The general setup is a young couple hit a woman with their car, leaving her for dead on the road. The male – a photographer – starts noticing anomolies showing up in his pictures and negatives. Things go real bad, real fast.
If ghost photography creeps you out, you might want to skip this one. Check out the trailer (in Thai with English subtitles) below, then click the links to watch the complete movie.

Synthetic Human Skin Products
Be the first creep on your block to be the lucky owner of a carry-bag made from synthetic human skin! As tasteless and sick as they are ugly, you’ll repell and disgust those pesky neighbours as you saunter proudly along sporting your new laptop bag made from synthetic human skin!
This is sick. These products sell (assuming they do sell) solely for shock value, or to trend-obsessed sheep with a deviant sense of “hipness”. No matter how “cool” you think these products are, they’re expensive and fugly as hell. If they were made from real human skin, they might be cool, but as it is they’re just creepy. More fake crap products for plastic people to throw their money away on.
If you are interested, you can check out the their site Skin Bag (French language site), where you’ll find a range of bags and clothing (?) made from this synthetic human skin.
Personally, I don’t get the point of clothing made from SHS. If I want to feel human skin against my body I think I’d rather have a hug than parade around like Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs.

Miss Deaf Texas Killed By Train
You can’t make stuff like this up:
Miss Deaf Texas struck by train, killed
Tuesday, March 14, 2006; Posted: 9:27 a.m. EST (14:27 GMT)
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The reigning Miss Deaf Texas died after being struck by a train, officials said.
Tara Rose McAvoy, 18, was walking Monday near railroad tracks when she was struck by a Union Pacific train, authorities said.
A witness told Austin television station KTBC the train sounded its horn right up until the accident occurred.
McAvoy, who had been deaf since birth, won the state title in June and represented the state “with dignity and pride,” state pageant director Laura Loeb-Hill told The Associated Press via e-mail Monday night.
I’d like to hear the reason why a deaf girl was walking along the train tracks in the first place.
UFO Video
Video of an alleged UFO in flight near the World Trade Center in New York, NY. This has nothing to do with 9/11, btw.
Before anyone gets too excited, I should mention that this was a commercial for the Sci-Fi Channel. I like it, anyway.

Loose Change 2nd Edition
For all the conspiracy theorists out there, I present Loose Change 2nd Edition, a documentary on how the U.S. government arranged, and is covering up, the horrific events of 9/11.
Parts of it are a bit hard for me to swallow, but even many of the most outlandish claims are no more difficult to believe than the “official” explanations. As 9/11 recedes into long-term memory, it gets easier to twist the facts to suit a specific purpose, and easier to get me believe that what you’re telling me is the truth.
It is a compelling piece of work, though. Worth the hour and a half if you’ve got the time to spare.
One hour and twenty-one minutes long and yes, I watched the entire documentary.
